Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for taking the time to give us a tour!
This is so freaking hilarious the fact that you show no emotions on the funny parts makes it that much funnier
Idk about "engineer" but I know broke single motherhood and vacuuming blankets/ plushies in a strong flex drawstring garbage bag reinforced with furniture shrink wrap works best
Hi Bill, Chuck from San Francisco Bay Area. Enjoyed your video. Lots of practical changes that makes the space more comfortable. Currently own a Bayliner 2858 flybridge model. My dream boat is the 4788 and perhaps someday it might happen. The wife likes one level floor plans with moderate stairs. The pilot house and living area is very welcoming. The few stairs to the flybridge is manageable. The bathtub is nice for the wife. I prefer military showers. Question: While underway and up on plane, can one have a conversation in your living room/kitchen area? You did say that the pilot house was somewhat quiet. This model is a big bang for your buck and have a good selection on used boat market. That middle state room is very spacious. I can’t see the wife crawling into bed and that middle state room looks very comfortable. The access points to the engines rooms are a wonderful upgrade and a great selling point for future owners. Do you feel you need bow thrusters ?
Hi Chuck, Sorry for the late reply. I don't feel I need bow thrusters 99.9% of the time. ( Trying to dock with one engine is very difficult. ) Still, no plans to add a thruster. you would need to give up water capacity to add a thruster. Rather have the water capacity. Anything more than at idle would make casual conversations in the salon not comfortable. We stay in the pilot house or fly bridge when motoring. Good luck.
@@engineershomeworkshop2692 Thank you. I thought being in the salon might be somewhat noisy underway above idle. Always pros and cons for every boat. It’s still a great layout and easy to get around with manageable stairs. At 73 , I seem to be able to still navigate steep stairs. However, I am extremely careful with my boat even underway on plane. The wife can’t handle steep stairs at all. A few stairs here and there are OK.
Beautiful boat! Thank you for the tour!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for verifying these vacuum seal bags never really hold their vacuum seal. Other than restricting larger size blankets or fabrics I find them to be utterly useless. You can force air out of a garbage bag rolling it up, place it into another garbage bag and tie it. That'll hold air tight better than worthless vacuum seal bags. Just my opinion
Thank you great tip our age changes a lot of things about us. But can work through it. thank you again
Hmmm, I dunno, seems like your tecnique is gonna make things difficult to remove from the outer uncompressed vacuum bag - you're fitting more in there than it's designed to fit, and you might need to reach inside and recompress the green garbage bag to remove your stuff, or you might tear the vacuum bag in the process.. You also won't be able to discern what's inside bc of the pre bag.
HI BILL I am most likley to need my vac for liquid pick up anyour ideas on poormans filter?
Does it smell when heated in the oven?
2:10 yea breath all the dust youve collected. what a brain move.....
Made my first PVC sheet from 6" diameter pipe using this method. It worked great and was very easy to do. Thanks
* I have a 6.5 Peak HP 20 gallon Craftsman shop vac. I tried a few things to help it from plugging up the filter. I turned the input so it would create a spin inside. I bought a dust separator from Wood Craft but it reduced the power. I settled on putting a filter bag inside the vacuum and change it every once in a while. It does not decrease the suction! * The 20 gallon vac came with a noisy reducing discharge. * The internal vac bag works well for sanding, my 12" chop saw, my band saw and my Rigid oscillating drum & belt sander. The bag fits inside the vac, connects to the input and allows for the normal filter to be used also. The bag holds the dust and the regular filter is not plugged at all. * I bought a used dust collector that has a 4" hose and use it for my table saw. It has a dust separator and a very large hanging cloth bag. Home Depot: * MULTI FIT General Debris Wet/Dry Vac Dry Pick-up Only Dust Collection Bags for 15 to 22 Gal Shop-Vac Brand Shop Vacuums (6-Pack). Looks GREAT! 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Man - you did a great job ! Your shapes and fit are very complicated. You should be extremely proud of your results. 👍👍😎👍👍
I appreciate that!
Totally agree with the use of 3D printers in a traditional woodshop. They are great for making jigs and other useful fixtures. Recently built a flip cart and used 3D printed bearing plates and spacers. Late last year I added a resin 3D printer and I'm almost done printing and assembling a Lowrider router based CNC.
Thank you for taking your time for putting this video together. Very helpful tip. When reading reviews on most of these vacuum seal bags the top complaint is that they cannot hold their vacuum. As the ultimate goal is to reduce volumen. This is a very cost effective solution. Thank you again. The world needs more engineers!
Lol name for your boat:)
It's so impressive that you have learned to do all that. And have the patience to do it! Good job!
This guy just changed the game for squishmallow collectors
Bill, I can't believe no one is watching this video. I don't own a boat, nor do i ever see that as a possibility in my lifetime. Yet this video was full of fascinating details that so many can use in their DIY lives. Thank you for sharing. I've often wanted to engage sewing/fabric solutions. This video encourages me to make the leap. 👍👍😎👍👍
Wow, thanks
I'm inspired.. My wife wants her car in the garage for the Chicago winters (second winter in 34 years she got her wish). It is not pretty but getting close to quick setup when the car is out and will be putting a swing-up table like yours in!
Bill thx for the tour, hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you the happiest of New Years... Take care and God Bless...
Happy holidays!
I use the blue shop towels! Lol
Thank you for the info.i been having issues with my neptune 4 max leveling.dial gauge in the mail.
Great money saving tip!Thanks 😊
Your motor is getting all of that dust up inside of it.
I that the space shuttle that blew up Ha HA
Use a n 95 mask. I will try this to clean out wood stove. Don't loan things to your kids my vac came back. Dirty
I'm going to try this before I buy vacuum bags.
Great video thanks!! ❤
Thanks 👍 I'm thinking of moving a large belt sander into my shed.
I would never have thought of using a paper towel for my shop vac and was really glad to see how you did it. Buying filters at the big box stores is Highway Robbery~! Thanks for the tip and I will be picking up some good quality paper towels shortly~!
I use paper towels as a pre-filter for my hand held dust busters, makes a big difference.
How long and what does it weigh, also is that sea or fresh water?
Just found you. Good work. On the drywall dust issue with the shop vac, i zip tie 2 socks ( one inside the other) to the exhaust port. That seeems to take care of anything that the filter misses. Sometimes ill even wet down the socks for even more effectiveness. I too am am engineer. Lol it keeps my honey do list pretty full at times! Keep up the good work!
I was trying to think of what else could hold the tension better. What if you put it inside a shrink bag and then ahrink that down to size before you turn the vacuum off? Would that work better or faster than saran wrapping the whole thing? I'm thinking then you'll have the desired compression size to use when you want to store your item again, unless they are not strong enough after opening to be reused .. What do you think?
I like the pool skimmer filter hack better. It's much easier.
This seems kinda hinky, though it may make sense if one used the outdoor fixed location of the shop vac as shown exclusively. Finer, harmful particles from the exhaust that get through the paper towels would not go back to the workspace.
looks to me like he's got a regular filter in there, just the paper towels over the top as a pre filter. So. No.
Don’t do this.
Appreciate it.
Sadly this house burned down and the insurance denied his claim because of this illegal(for good reason) out door hood.Even the grill itself comes with warnings about clearances to combustables.
I don't doubt your honest conclusions, however, there must be much more to the story. Much more.
Thank you that helps you seem to have a nice house you might want to shop vac that little shed and your yard it looks a fright.
Thanks, and your right. . . that side of the yard is a mess.
You still have to have loads of traditional vacuum storage bags . I thought it was a solution with just bin bags . Vacuum bags are expensive so I can’t buy them
You don't need traditional vacuum bags. . . I suggest you watch the video again.
@@engineershomeworkshop2692 thank you for your time doing the video . But I don’t have plastic bags at home . Only bin bags , and I thought it was about making it work with bin bags . I watched it all
Your videos are very informative, explained in an easy to understand manner, and i feel i definitely gain something from watching them. Thanks for another interesting video Bill, hope to see more updates soon
Reminds me of a just engine with the stators and rotors directing the air.. Bill maybe you have a new engine design...I was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force...
Gary, I can not confirm or deny. BTY. . .I admire jet engine mechanics.
Could that be turned into a scroll saw. I see where there are many different applications for a old sewing machine. Thank you for sharing.
Unfortunately this is a b ad design, as paper towels only stop 23% of 0.3 micron particles.
I wonder if more paper towel is used and wrapped around multiple times- like maybe 3, 4 or 5 times if that would help filter more particles. That much might reduce airflow so need to McGuyver it a little.
@@Muscles_McGeegonna try with some medical masks and see how the air flow is
Looks like it took care of 99% of what he was intending
.3 micron particles end up outside with this setup...
it's a pre filter. So there's still a filter, right?
Once you get your patent, please share the full scope of the project. The explosion was interesting, but the demonstration of a smooth running unit would be wonderful. I'm retired, and really enjoy such projects. Your boating and projects can coexist.
